A total of 700 group members, team members, govt officials and youths participated in the rallies and discussion meeting. The day was observed as part of the national programme simultaneously in each district. The objective of National Legal Aid Day is to educate the communities regarding public legal aid and how it supports marginalized peoples who don’t have money but are going through a litigation process.
This year’s theme was’ Fulfilling Father of Nation’s dream, unveiling of free legal aid services. In the discussion meeting, it was discussed that last year, 3 lakh 47 thousand 677 judicial cases were settled across the country, by providing legal aid. Issues like how to access the legal aid, what is the procedure to apply for legal aid, who are eligible for such support, how can safety and security of witnesses be ensured, etc were discussed in the meeting.
