The Women’s Land Rights Network organized a two-day training program on “Women Leadership in Land and Waterbodies on March 19-20, 2024, in Dinajpur. With 27 representatives, including members from Adivasi Nari Parishad (Dinajpur), the training aimed to empower marginalized women by enhancing their understanding of land rights, feminist principles, and leadership skills. Facilitated by Advocate Jahangir Siddiqui and Purabi Chowdhury, the training emphasized the importance of women’s ownership of land, water bodies, and forests. Through interactive sessions, participants learned about legal imperatives, climate change effects, and strategies for advocacy and empowerment. The training fostered discussions on social norms, human rights, and the role of feminist thought in promoting gender equality. The expected outcomes included increased awareness of women’s rights, enhanced leadership abilities, and the establishment of local movements to protect women’s land rights and the environment. Through activities like the “Human Rights Walk,” participants gained understandings into societal inequalities and the importance of women’s economic independence.
