Six Monthly Learning Sharing Meetings with Women’s Land Rights Network, 15 Dec 2022

Badabon Sangho has organized a six monthly learning sharing meeting with Women’s Land Rights Network at Lalmatia in Dhaka on 15th Dec 2022. Members of Women’s Land Rights Network Alam of Khagrachari, Jagrat Foundation of Patuakhali, Shiri of patuakhali, Adivasi Nari Parishad of Dinajpur, Abhiyan of Narail, Tarang Mahila Kalyan Sanstha of Jamalpur, Achik Michik Society of Tangail, BRDS of Sunamganj, International Land Coalition (ILC) and Badabon Sangho’s Executive Directors, the presidents and federation members were present on the occasion. Network members discussed the activities implemented to build women’s leadership and movement at the local level on land, water bodies, forests, climate change, including the evaluation of the network’s planned and implemented activities of the last six months. They also discussed the challenges and successes of observing the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women at the local level on 25 November. How the Land Rights Network will do advocacy is discussed. In the event, the members of the Women’s Land Rights Network gave a brief description of the activities of their respective organizations and how they are working on women’s land rights. Various successes, failures and challenges in working with women’s land rights came out through the discussion.

It is important to note that Badabon Sangho is a member of the International Land Coalition (ILC) and playing strong roles in it. ILC’s Asia Regional Coordinator Mirgul Aamanalieva was attended the learning sharing workshop. She carefully heard about the ongoing women’s struggles to protect their lands, particularly indigenous peoples’ land. All of them were agreed to continue legal and movement building activities together.
