Mongla Citizen Committee consisting of women groups members and leaders have organized a rally, 28 July 2022. Group members including 20 women, and 25 men participated in rallies and discussion. Human chain was organized with the demand of drinking water amid acute saline water and soil, which is the main challenges. Local civil society members were joined the event and talked about the extremely scarcity of drinking waters.
Besides, they discussed and demanded prohibition of agriculture land utilization for factories. Many factories are being setting up near the river, the waste materials of those factories go directly into the water. As a result, the water is becoming unhygienic for usage, lives underwater are dying, and ultimately the ecosystem and nature are severely being affected.
Through this event along with local people, group members urges to stop building unplanned factories near the river and monitor the illegal cutting of trees to save Sundarban and to save Mother Nature.
