Badabon Sangho conducted inception meeting of project titled, `Women fisher folks rights’ with funding support of Manusher Jonno Foundation and UKAid on 26 Feb 2019 at Chila union parishad complex in Mongla upazila under Bagerhat district. The inception meeting was presided by the Union Parishad Chairman, Upazila Fisheries Officer, Forest Officer were present as guest speaker. The leaders of women groups were attended the meeting along with journalists and other stakeholders. The project will be implemented with 2,070 women fisher folks beneficiaries for duration of three years. The project will have results in improved rights, entitlements and dignity of women fisher folks through access to state open water-bodies. The women fisher folk would be organised in groups and association and be supported with water-bodies identification maps. Women fisher-folks and household’s members would have improved access to public services i.e. social safety net schemes, seasonal fishing, children education, health care, skill training and income generation. The project would strengthen the networks with Dept of Forest, Dept of Fisheries, local land administration and women associations.
