An intra-group dialogue was held on 23/01/24 at Bagerhat aimed to raise awareness among 19 adolescent girls about eve teasing and eradicate the misconceptions. The event began with a welcome note from group’ leaders i.e., chairperson and secretary.
After 30 minutes of deliberation, the debate arguments ranged from cultural and religious considerations including economic factors to the impact of women wearing provocative clothing. Despite opposing views, the event concluded with an agreement that clothing alone is not solely responsible for eve teasing; acknowledging the role of distorted mentalities, lack of awareness and limited family education are also contributing factors. The event proved highly successful, shattering misconceptions and sparking thoughtful discussions about eve-teasing among the participants. The event concluded with the distribution of awards for the participants as a token of encouragement.
