Dialogue on gender-based violence against women and girls organized by the women’s rights and women-led groups at Badabon Training Room, Dhaka

On January 12, 2024, a discussion on gender-based violence against women, and girls was held at the Badabon Training Room in Dhaka. The key aim of the gathering was to identify the root causes and possible way out of gender-based violence especially in the climate change affected areas.

Total 9 women and 4 men from 10 organizations (SheRee, Torongo, SPaRC, CDWS) were participated in the dialogue. It is important to mention that these organisations are came together and developed a GBV programme for next five years.

During the discussion, participants shared various forms of violence, including dowry-related harassment, displacement induced violence, sexual abuse against girls, and landownership induced harassment, etc. participants came to agreement that next five years together they will address these root-causes by implementing set of activities. By the way of the dialogue, participants illustrate the indicators of the outputs and outcomes as well. Needs and constraints of the different kind of stakeholders were also discussed and mapped in the dialogue.
