Orientation of Women Leaders: Insights and Outcomes of Land Issues Meeting at Bhatpara Union Land Office

On June 12, 2024, a meeting focused on land issues was held at the Bhatpara Union Land Office in Bagerhat Sadar. The session, attended by 16 participants (11 women and 5 men), aimed to educate women leaders about land services, familiarize them with land documents, and build connections with Union land officials. The meeting began with a briefing from group leader, who outlined the session’s objectives. Participants introduced themselves, provided an overview of land services offered by Badabon Sangho, including obtaining land information, mutation, cancellation (namkharij), recording, litigations and handling civil suits. Union Land Assistant Officer, praised the women’s efforts to gain land ownership and explained the land office’s functions, including maintaining records, collecting land development taxes, and digital payment updates. Results of the meeting included 10 women landowners gained a comprehensive understanding of land documents and where to obtain accurate information, strong relationships were established between the female members and the Union Land Assistant Officer, ensuring easier access to land services in the future and the meeting increased awareness among the women about land-related issues and services.
