Two bi-monthly meetings of girls groups were organized in Bagerhat and Mongla upazila 23 and 26 Oct 2024. The purpose of the meetings were to improve internal organisational capacities of girls and to develop their leadership skills. The meetings discussed on self-improvement, including education, skill gaining and volunteering works. Girls discussed about their voluntary services like solving local disputes and addressing community issues. In Mongla, 13 participants discussed education, voluntary work, community problems, and committee formation. Many of these girls also contribute to local development through activities such as teaching music, freelance work, and traditional craft-making. During the meeting, the girls expressed concerns about child marriage in their area and formed a new committee with five members, and started to campaign against early marriage. The meeting successfully strengthened mutual relationships among the participants, and 15 girls reported earning independently, reflecting the meeting’s impact on personal and community development as well.
