Training to Women Farmers Groups on ‘Saline Tolerant Rice Cultivation’

Group members received training on saline tolerant rice cultivation’ at Mongla in Bagerhat, 20 Feb 2023. Women federation members, and team members participated in the training. The main purpose of the training was to make women farmers economically transition by training them in saline tolerant rice and vegetable cultivation.

 During the month of Chaitra, Baishakh (Bangla months), both the water of the river and reservoir becomes salty. Due to high intensity of salinity, crops are unable to garow.  In the training, it was recommended, farmers should remove salt from soil by using gypsum, sulfur in soil.

According to the evaluation sheets, 25 out of 29 women farmers learned how to saline tolerant rice can be produced. All of the 29 participants learned about the method of saline tolerant rice cultivation and they decided to cultivate saline tolerant rice and vegetables in their farming land.
