The Women’s Land Rights Network held a two-day training at Masaus Training Room in Rajshahi, with 30 attendees (27 female, 3 male). Moderated by Executive Director Marina Hassard and Trainer Advocate Jahangir Siddiqui, the program’s key objective was to educate participants on women’s land rights, enhance leadership qualities, and address climate change impacts. Activities included introductions, sharing of expectation from the training, human rights walk game revealing societal disparities, and drawing exercises reflecting childhood dreams versus real life situations. Discussions outlined issues like lack of awareness and solutions such as legal education and standing against injustice. Advocate Siddiqui identified lack of knowledge among women regarding inheritance laws. The program aimed to empower women to advocate for their land rights and promote gender equality in land ownership and decision-making processes.
