Two days long training (13-14 Sept 2022) for indigenous women groups’ leaders in Dinajpur press club was organised. One of the women’s land rights network members- Jatiya Mohila Adivashi Parishad has organized the training to Santal women groups’ members and leaders. All of them were active and fluent in the sessions, they described how women particularly indigenous women are being expelled from the inherited lands and water-bodies.
A total of 25 women leaders were participated in the training and they clearly understood how landownership contribute to the empowerment as well. Sessions includes tools and methods like rights walk, identity debate, games, lecture and brainstorming, etc. Topics like inheritance properties rights, roles of three offices, access to land records, climate change and land use, women’s human rights and landownership, social stories line, etc. At the end of the training, each of the participants were eager to know more about the process on how to claim the landownership. It was agreed that Badabon Sangho will assist the group to mobilize union level groups and their leaders by forming committees. Further support would be provided to Parishad to educate the union committee members on landownership.
