On 28 May, 2025, a discussion meeting was organized with girls groups in Harijan colony, Mironzolla, Dhaka. It should be mentioned that Global Affairs of Canada’ vice president was visited Bangladesh during the time and expressed interest to talk to these girls. The meeting was organized to discuss about the girls groups and their aspiration regarding dignity. This is one of the regular meeting where girls are getting peer supports, coach on articulation and public speaking, and how to report gender –based violence.
It is important to mention that Badabon Sangho has been implementing girls’ empowerment tools and methods with the Harijan girls groups, who are marginalized in terms of caste, class, and income as well. Harijan community mostly are cleaning workers and living in untouchable community. Partnering with Bangladesh Harijan Yokko Parishad, Badabon Sangho has been implementing the programme since 2022. Visitors expressed their satisfaction regarding girls’ empowerment especially in the Harijan colony.
