Discussion Meeting with Police and Local Women Leaders in Bagerhat

On 25th September 2024, Badabon Sangho organized a significant discussion meeting at the Bagerhat Model Police Station with the aim of developing better relations between police officers and local women leaders. The meeting was attended by 19 individuals, including 16 women and 3 men. The session by introducing the organization’s activities and outlining the purpose of the meeting to familiarize the women leaders with the local police station’s functions and establish a positive working relationship. In the meeting several important issues were raised by the women leaders. One participant raised concerns about her brother’s safety due to political upsets forced him to flee home. Another female member shared that her daughters were being harassed by local men because they were pursuing their education.  She added that due to political unrest political discussions should be avoided, and regarding harassment she said to contact UNO and filing a formal complaint at the police station.  Due to the police officers’ busy schedules coordinator concluded the meeting early. However the meeting helped 12 women leaders gain insights into police work, overcome fears, and feel more comfortable approaching the police with future problems. Though the Officer-in-Charge couldn’t attend, the meeting was successful in building communication and trust between the women leaders and police officers.
