Training on Organic Agriculture and Environmental protection to indigenous women farmers in Naogaon 

Badabon Sangho conducted a training program on organic vegetable cultivation and environmental protection for women farmers on September 11, 2024, at Patnitala, Naogaon. The session was attended by 23 indigenous women farmers from Kashipur and Dohanagar. The training designed to educate participants about the importance of forming women agriculture groups, and inform about organic farming methods and environmental conservation. Discussions highlighted the dangers of overusing chemical fertilizers and benefits of using organic fertilizer, while practical demonstrations focused on the process of making vermicomposting, Tricho compost, and pesticides from neem leaves and mahogany fruits. Instructions were also provided on making a bio-pesticide and controlling pests using Tarzan pheromone traps. The Upazila Agriculture Officer also emphasized the need to reduce chemical fertilizer As a result of the training, all 23 participants gained awareness of the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers, and at least 13 became more conscious of sustainable farming practices. 20 participants were already familiar with women farmers’ rights, while 3 learned about them during the session. The training concluded with participants completing evaluation forms, where all confirmed that they received new knowledge. The session ended with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all for their active participation.
