Climate Change and Gender Network was formed in Bagerhat district on March 7, 2024 with participation of civil society organisations, groups, journalists and other stakeholders.
The objective of the network is to accelerate collective actions and campaign to combat violence against women, end child marriage, and address the impact of climate change on women’s lives. Total 21 women and 13 men were participated in the meeting. Civil society organisations and groups were discussed about the local context, needs of learning-sharing, adaptation and mitigation practices and advocacy agendas.
Seven (7) members committee was formed (i.e., a) President, b) Vice-President, c) General Secretary, d) Join Secretary, e) three Executive members who are representing different groups and organisations. They discussed strategies to support women affected by environmental challenges and pledged to continue their efforts beyond the project’s duration, aiming for sustainable progress in women’s empowerment and climate resilience.
