Organised training on `Organic Vegetable Cultivation’ at Badabon Sangho Mongla Office

On February 22, 2024, a training session on ‘Organic Vegetable Cultivation and Environmental Protection to women farmers was held at Mongla office of Badabon Sangho, with 14 women participants. The objective of the training was to inform about the goal and importance of the women’s agricultural group, the establishment of Badabon and its activities, the use and benefits of organic fertilizers, the harm of chemical fertilizers, and women’s role in environmental protection. Mongla Upazila Agriculture Officer Mr. Saiful Islam was present as chief guest. Discussions gradually progressed on organic farming, fertilizer production, safety of using organic fertilizers, more produces at low cost, increasing demand for organic crops in market, zero soil degradation and on other hand the dangers and several downsides of using chemical fertilizers also shared by the experts. The session also covered environmental protection measures. Finally, the training session was ended with a vote of thanks. Outcomes included 14 women farmers are aware of compost fertilizers, bio-farming and environmental protection, 80% of them agreed to have organic farming in their regular agriculture.
