International Migrants Day, 18 Dec 2022

Badabon Sangho organized a human chain, rally and discussion meeting to observe International Migrants Day with members of the Women Workers Forum on 18 Dec 2022 at Ruhitpur in Dhaka. The program was supported by GAATW. Badabon Sangho Executive Director Lipi Rahman presided over and conducted the programme.

Migrant women participated in the programme and described various incidents in their lives. They have faced many dangers by going abroad through brokers without training. And now they are not able to enjoy their hard earned income back home. The instructors advised everyone to go abroad with proper training and use the money earned back home. Migrant women workers brought up numbers of opinions to shape the public policies regarding migrant workers. One of the key points, they asked for more attention and active roles of Bangladesh embassies who are placed in destination countries in order to protect migrant workers’ interests.
