Badabon Sangho conducted a series of activities under the Women-Led Climate Advocacy at Bagerhat district. Prior to the meetings, several courtyard sessions were held in Boro Durga, Kalekharber, and Sonatunia of Hurka and Rajnagar Unions, attended by 66 women. These meetings focused on the impact of climate risks and mitigation, strategies highlighting actions such as planting salt-tolerant vegetable seeds and collecting rainwater for drinking. Simultaneously, a three-days long training was conducted at the CODEC Training Center in Bagerhat, involving 20 local volunteers. In the training sessions, disaster preparedness, climate justices, gender equality and community actions were discussed in order to educate their communities, enhancing disaster risk awareness and promoting sustainable practices.
On May 23, 2024, an awareness meeting in Hurka Union gathered 34 participants, including 14 teachers, and elder citizens. Discussions highlighted local climate change impacts and proposed actions such as distributing eco-friendly seeds and training female farmers. Key decisions included promoting salt-tolerant crops, advocating for rainwater harvesting, and collaborating with the Disaster Management Committee (UDMC) to support vulnerable populations. These activities underlined how effective communication and hands-on training are crucial in community-driven climate resilience efforts.
