Women Fisher-Folk Association Organized Dialogue With Cooperative Dept. in Mongla, 14 June 2022

One of the part of the advocacy programme is- women’s fisher-folk association’s recognition and registration with the cooperative dept. Local officials keeping excuse, dedicated women fisher-folk association is not supported by policy. Groups are keeping communication with upazila and district officials regarding association’s registration. As a result, District Cooperative Officer, S M Anisur Rahman was went to Mongla and met with women fisher-folk groups. In the meeting, association members and officials were questioned and answered. Along with the cooperative officials, dept. of fisheries officials were present. It was long waited results of process by which women fisher-folk communities are demanding their separated association.

Most of the discussion was regarding association’s objectives, motivation and future plans. How women fisher-folk think their future- was the key discussion points. It was straight forward discussion with officials and groups’ leaders. Group leaders were demanded their association separately and they asked to register it within the existing policy ground.
