Quarterly meeting of Upazila Legal Aid Committee in Mongla

On April 25, 2024, in Mongla Upazila Parishad complex a quarterly meeting of the ‘Upazila Legal Aid Committee’ were facilitated. Attended by 22 members (3 women, 19 men), the meeting updated participants on legal aid activities and foster communication. Women groups’ leaders and other members were attended the meeting. Legal Aid Officer Ibrahim Khalil Muhith explained about the public legal aid services, which is mentioned in the Legal Aid Provision Act 2000.

During an open discussion, Upazila Vice-Chairman Kamrunnahar Hye raised gender-based violence report, seeking assistance; and asked necessary supports from the legal aid committee. It was discussed that public awareness regarding the public legal aid services need to be raised at community level. Badabon Sangho’s group members and leaders will play roles in awareness raising. The meeting concluded with speeches from the Upazila Executive Director and Chairman, expressing gratitude to Badabon Sangho and hope that community will benefit from it.  Outcomes included 16 members gaining insight into legal aid activities, fostering solidarity, and enhancing understanding through interactive Q&A sessions.
