Organized Meeting with Child Marriage Prevention Committee at Bagerhat

With support of the youth forum, Badabon Sangho has facilitated a meeting with child marriage prevention committee on 31 Jan 2023. The meeting was held in the Bagerhat DC’s conference room presided by the deputy commissioner. The meeting was jointly organized by Badabon Sangho and district child marriage prevention committee. Committee members consisting of government officials, elected representatives, journalists, teachers and youth leaders participated and discussed. Discussion on the causes of child marriages, roles of communities, roles of schools and how to combat these injustices at grassroot level. Key recommendations are as follows; a) the family should be aware of negative consequences of child marriage; b) everyone should be informed, why child is frustrated; c) all should be encouraged to call helpline numbers 109, 999 and 1098. Finally it was decided that Badabon Sangho will continue such a meeting in future also.
