Empowering Women Farmers: Training on Organic Agriculture and Environmental Protection in Naogaon, 23 Oct 2024

On October 23, 2024, Badabon Sangho organized a batch of training session in Patnitala, Naogaon, focused on organic agriculture and environmental protection. The purpose of the training was to educate women farmers regarding disadvantage of chemical fertilizers, importance of soil health and indigenous seeds etc.  28 indigenous women farmers educated how to make organic fertilizers at home, the process of vermicomposting, making natural pesticides, and understanding how excessive chemical fertilizers can harm both human health and the environment. Through demonstrations by the agriculture officer, participants learned practical methods for making compost, vermicomposting, and controlling pests in natural ways. This hands-on training provided valuable skills for women farmers, showing them how organic farming can be healthier, cost-effective, and high yielding, at the same time supporting environmental protection. By the end of the training, 25 women orientated new environmental protection practices, and additionally, 20 women reported an increased awareness of organic farming methods that they could apply in their own agricultural fields.
